What are your career interests and why?

My career interests include becoming a zookeeper or a nature conservationist. I have a huge love for all sorts of animals and learning about their biology. If I can educate others about animals and help conserve their habitats, I would feel very complete.

Education has given me a lot of knowledge that I would not have learned out of a school setting. School also taught me very important lessons like how to manage time effectively and set goals for myself. Going to school is also the reason I have the amazing friends that I've known for years.

What does being a Lansing Promise scholar mean to you?

The Lansing Promise is the reason I achieved my Associate's from LCC. Without the Lansing Promise, I could not have afforded to go to college. It means SO MUCH to me that I had to honor of being a Lansing Promise scholar as I would not have gotten this far without it. It relieved so much stress from not having to quit school due to not being able to afford it. Because of the scholarship, I could focus on my studies and obtain really high grades (I graduated with highest honors, woohoo!).

What advice would you give to our future Lansing Promise scholars?

Don't take the scholarship for granted and if you have questions or need help, don't be afraid to reach out! The Lansing Promise definitely cares about their scholars and wants all of them to succeed. I remember not knowing how the scholarship really worked and I had so many questions. I reached out to the Lansing Promise team with my questions, and they were extremely helpful and took away all of my worries.
