What are your career interests and why?

Anything to do with the beauty and music industry as I identify as a creative, these two interests are my life passions. I have always felt like I could be a representation for someone who can relate to someone like myself whom identifies as an Asian American whom doesn’t necessarily identify with the societal norm of interests in STEM based careers.

As I get older I am thankful for the education I received as when I was younger I took advantage of the privilege to be educated. Now a young adult, I use many different references and lessons I’ve learned in my educational life in my personal endeavors overall!

What does being a Lansing Promise scholar mean to you?

Being a Lansing Promise scholar to me means being a walking model for my community that I learned and grew in. To this day I hold pride in being a Lansing Promise scholar because I enjoy letting others know outside of our local community that there is more than just the stigmas based around our community.

I was able to finish my first two years of community college with no worries of having to figure out how it would have been paid for! Who doesn’t love that?!

What advice would you give to our future Lansing Promise scholars?

To the future Lansing Promise scholars, enjoy every moment of your educational youth and do not take it for granted! Try to be as present as possible and don’t beat yourself up for the little mistakes you make along the way (cliche but we really do ALL make mistakes!). Sometimes as scholars we are so focused on getting the perfect grades and gpa but take a breather and remember that balance is key and take time to learn more about yourself. Find the true things about yourself and what you really are passionate about long-term and it will benefit your future more than you’ll ever know. Oh.. and good luck!
